My Writing Experience

My perception and/or experience in a writing class I am afraid to say has been non-existent. Everything I have learned in the past and current has been self-taught. It has been at least 20 years or more since I have stepped foot inside a classroom. Memories are like an old photograph if not preserved, they tend to fade with time as so have my own memories of a time that seems long forgotten. I am an avid reader of various book from all different genres. When my children were young I spent many of hours reading to them the book of fantastical fantasy worlds like Harry Potter, The magic tree house and so many wonderful books of great literature like Alice in wonderland and of course one of my own favorite as a child Huckleberry Fin. I have lived a rather eventful and difficult life and during such periods there were times I struggled greatly with financial security. I am by far not a writer, but I wanted my children to love the joys of reading as I have always done. During times of low income even the cost of gas could be a great burden so trips to the local library had to be placed low on my list of expenses I began to look for books I could read to them online. To my disappointment at the time there were few places you could go without paying to read stories children would enjoy. I soon discovered that there were many sites dedicated to creating your own version of someone else great works. I found stories suitable to read to my children, even found a few that I myself enjoyed. To sum it all up I found that creating my own stories using other people characters and backgrounds to create a new version of the same story, giving them new adventures and new challenges introducing other characters and blending their own stories and worlds was kind of fun and my children loved it so it became a hobby to write fanfiction and read to my children at bedtime. However, I never attempted to publish a story or claim them as my own. In a way I guess you can say my children were my biggest fans and critiques. They never lacked in giving me feedback on where I went wrong or giving me advice on how to correct or improve a
