Darkness has set in. Main Street USA lit only by the small glow of the shop lights. My small 4 year old attention span is trained on the pavement in front of me. Sitting in the front of the stroller, which also holds my little brother, I turn my head to ask my father, for the gazillionth time, how much longer. Then it happens. The music starts. The Lights are bright, and they seem to go on forever. The first float comes down Main Street, and there right in the center, waving, is none other than, Mickey Mouse. My father, sensing my struggle to see, picks me up and puts me on his shoulders. Next I see Minnie, Ariel, Cinderella, Peter Pan, and so many more. All of these characters which I have grown up with were there. They were always in my mind. What kept my imagination and creativity running. Sitting there with my mother, father, brother, grandmother, and grandfather I can’t help but be filled with awe and wonder as my favorite personified animations come to life. …show more content…

Every time I go I am filled with the same wonder and awe that I had as a small child. I think to myself, “It must be the place. The characters. The rides”. But no. It’s a magic all its own that only exists there or when watching their movies. These characters were my role models. My heros. My friends. They sparked a creativity and imagination that has continued brewing all throughout my life and will never stop. They taught me things and expanded my knowledge of who I am. Mickey and his gang taught me to be a loyal and loving friend. Peter Pan taught me that it’s okay to not want to grow up, for I will always be a kid at heart. And all the princesses taught me that it’s great to be a girl and as a girl I can do and be anything from my wildest dreams. I would emulate them in my everyday life.
