Self-Evaluation Paper The stage in life I chose to examine was going to high school. There are many new exciting and dreadful things that happen through those four years. There’s entering high school, playing on the school’s sport teams, making new friends, attending school dances, going on dates, learning how to drive, getting a job, being involved with school functions, figuring out your future, and graduating. All of these crazy events happened while I was in high school and it changed me for sure. Just thinking about going to high school was a scary feeling for me at first. He says there are five basic human needs. We continually we move up and down the hierarchy. I believe this is the theory that related to me most while I was in high school. All of the others did somewhat but this one did the most. The first thing we need in life is physiological needs. I needed air, food, water, sleep, and shelter while I was in high school. Well of course I needed those. The next need is safety and security. I needed to be free from anxiety. At school I felt save. I knew nothing would happen to me while I was there. I made sure I didn’t do unsafe things with my friends. I would just watch them do the unsafe things. The next need is love and belonging. Everyone needs to feel loved. In high school I feel like I struggled with this I time. I felt like I didn’t belong. I tried to sometimes help others feel loved and that they belonged. That is such a hard thing to go through while in high school. The next need is self-esteem. We need to be confident in ourselves. I felt pretty confident in myself at high school. But the moment I got around cute boys it was a different story. I had a low self-esteem around them. There were tons of people who had low self-esteems that made me glad I had a higher self-esteem. The last need we need is self-actualization. Like what I already talked about we need to know who we are. That makes life easier when we know who we are and what we want out of life. In high school I knew what I wanted. There are two other needs that are not as important but then could come in handy. Need for knowledge and need for freedom were the two other needs. I love learning new things. I loved when I could learn new things while at school. These needs would be different all the time. I see why we need these things in life and I know I need

The four years of high school was the moment and opportunity to seek the interests that stood out to me the most. The type of job evaluation used in this SLP identifies the responsibilities of the job and bases the individual’s performance on these responsibilities. This assessment score surprised me for I feel that I am very tolerant and adapt well to change, but maybe, as I get older, I resistance change because I have found principles and ideas that work well to achieve success and see change as only undermining what is already working (McShane & Von Glinow, 2016, p. 429). McShane & Von Glinow (2016, p. 428) says that “constructive communication” can overcome resistance. This statement is directed at management, but I plan on using this same advice to overcome my own resistance to change from management. Changes are occurring in my department and some role realignment is going to take place, as this occurs, I agree with McShane & Von Glinow (2016, p. 434) that this change will cause me additional stress, of course, now that I know this I can actions to prevent it. High school was not a completely dreadful experience, but I did not get a really an exceptional education. As I entered high school, I thought it would be a whole new exciting chapter in my life. I started out as an involved student, and went through all of the Advance Placement and Honor classes, and managed to be at the top 12% of my class. In high school, I basically placed myself to enjoy it; I joined all of the extra curricular activities I was interested in. I was in band, tennis, swimming, dance team, and Key Club. Sometimes I was at school for about fourteen hours a day, four times a week.

As my English 101 class comes to an end, I have realized how much I have transformed as a writer. In this essay, I am going to explain what I realized my strengths and weaknesses are as a writer and how they have manifested themselves throughout the quarter. I was skeptical at first coming into this class knowing that English takes formidable work and dedication, but I am very proud of the progress I have made. We completed a great deal of work throughout the quarter; from grammar exercises, summary reviews, and two challenging essays. Throughout the quarter I found myself improving in each category. As a writer, my skills and confidence have developed into more clarity and thought, something I have always wanted to be, as a result of a well constructed class that led to a superb educational experience.
I believe it is important for any student who wants to do their best in a class to take a moment to evaluate their own work to determine the rate their writing is progressing and how they can continue to advance their writing. When I looked through my own work I asked myself “what have I learned this semester?” and “what do I still need to learn in order to improve my writing?”. Answering both these questions will help me with my last step of my self-evaluation, developing a plan to learn new skills.

Well I guess I’ll start off this paper by being outright honest. I have never done this type of self-assessment exercise. So I’ll start this paper off with what exactly this type of self-assessment is. These types of self-assessments are meant to help show the individual (me) where my strengths lie and also where my weaknesses are as well so that I may try and lean on my strengths while improving on my own shortcomings. Essentially the Johari Window four regions model that we learned about is a great tool for this assessment. The first region is also known as the open area, which essentially means that this is what is known by the person about him/herself and is also know by others. The second region is known as the blind area in which this is information unknown by the individual but is known by others. Which could be behaviors that an individual does but does not realize that they are doing them. The third window is known as the hidden area. This area is essentially information that only you know about yourself and others do not. The fourth area is known as the unknown area. It’s known as that because this is information that you and others do not know about you. It’s when you take a look at these four areas and see your strengths and/or weaknesses are at and if you allow yourself to become open to feedback you then can improve on your own shortcomings and become a better leader.
Abraham Maslow wrote the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory. This theory was based on fulfilling five basic needs: physiological, safety, social, esteem and self-actualization. Maslow believed that these needs could create internal pressures that could influence the behavior of a person. (Robbins, p.204)
The Hierarchy of needs theory, by Maslow, shows the basic and the advanced needs that the person should fulfill to reach his or her highest potential. That is why the theory is best depicted as a pyramid including seven stages. The first stage is physiological needs: water, body temperature, sleep, and sex. When one satisfies those needs, he or she can go to the next stage. Safety needs is the second stage. Here, the person is concerned about his safety and stability, so he tries to find a good job to support himself financially, and also find a good home in a safe place. The third stage is belongingness and love. To love and be loved and accepted becomes very important in this stage, so the person starts to worry about his relationships. Being accepted and loved will lead successfully to the fourth stage, which is esteem needs. In this level, the person is more concerned about achieving and gaining approval.
