Mutisystematic Assessment and Stages of Development: A multisystematic approach is an “integration of knowledge” based on theories of biological, psychological and social perspectives of human development and the social environment. This approach involves four assumptions. The first is that there are three dimensions for assessing a human’s behavior (biological, psychological and social). The second assumption is that these dimensions make up a system of biopsychosocial functioning. The next thing is that these systems have an organized hierarchy from smallest to largest and the last thing is that each one of these systems is always interacting with the other systems. Precious is withdrawn and attempts to deflect questions that are challenging. Precious is uncomfortable talking about personal matters as evidenced by her looking down an avoiding eye contact.
Assessment: Precious has low self esteem likely because of the verbal and emotional abuse inflicted by her mother. Her mother is also physically abusive with her, causing multiple head traumas (involving blackout) that have not been medically assessed. She has been told she is nothing and that she is stupid her entire life. Precious is obese, and her mother controls her eating. Precious may suffer from an eating disorder. Precious has a history of inadequate nutrition and lack of health care. Precious is HIV positive. Precious is a victim of physical abuse incest and has two children by her father. Precious is not functioning at corresponding grade level for her age and can only read at an 8th grade level.
Plan: Precious needs to be involved in a support group to work on her self esteem and coping mechanisms, and to feel involved in her community. Precious needs to start involving herself in healthy lifestyle changes. Precious needs to attend teen parenting classes and parenting classes on discipline- as to not complete the abuse cycle in her
