Stalin and Mussolini Stalin and Mussolini had their differences like Stalin rose to power through communism while Mussolini rose there through fascism. Another difference is that Mussolini was executed while Stalin died of natural causes. Even though Mussolini and Stalin have their differences they had more common occurrences. They both used propaganda and fear to control their people, they also had a secret police. The last two were that they brought economics under control and an purge or act of terror had occurred. Therefor Stalin and Mussolini are more alike rather than different.
Stalin rose to power through communism. The Soviet Union was founded in 1922, with Lenin as its first leader. During these years, Stalin had continued to move up the party ladder, and in 1922 he became secretary general of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, a role that enabled him to appoint his allies to government jobs and grow a base of political support. Mussolini rose to power through fascism. He ruled “in October 1922, Mussolini led the Fascists on a march on Rome, and King Emmanuel III, who had little faith in Italy’s parliamentary government, asked Mussolini to form a new government”(History.com Staff).

Stalin made an 5 year plan or FYP to help Russia get back to where West is economically. It didn't work the first time but the second FYP worked and the economic percent went up 25%. With the percent going up 25% they benefited from new jobs, electrified. Then Mussolini was in power he kept fascist regime extending and with an good fascist policies like protected the Italian economy from the Great Depression and allowed the modernization of Italy to continue . With the modernizing continuing the number of schools increased 20% and there were new motorways
