Today, more and more couples are moving in together before getting married. This has some benefits but can also cause major heartbreak and pair for both individuals. A lot of people believe that you should wait until you’re married before moving in together. While a lot of times that is the safer and better option, there are multiple benefits of moving in before marriage. An advantage of moving in together is you can get to know the chance to really know that person and know if you can deal with the best and the worst of times. Another benefit of moving in together is saving a lot of money, in fact, US News estimated that couples saved an average of 40% within the first year than living on your own because if you a couple and your living with your significant other, you are able to split up rent and other utilities. The worst is what if the relationship doesn’t work out. Then you will have the struggle of moving out and having to find someone else and having to move all of your stuff and find a new place to live can be very stressful. Also, nearly half of all marriages will end in 20 years if moved in before marriage. E-Harmony did a study and they concluded that around 20% of couples living together had a baby. Statistics show that the longer a couple live together the less likely they are to get married and also that the divorce rate of people who lived together before marriage is much higher than that of people who waited until they were married before living together. Another downside of living together is if you do have a kid and you get a divorce it can really affect a child. Children are more likely to have trust issues, anxiety, lower grades and children of divorce are four times more likely to report problems with peers and friends than children whose parents have kept their marriages intact.
