Medical marijuana is any plant of the marijuana plant that you use to treat health problems, marijuana is the dried part of the cannabis sativa plant. Marijuana has hundreds of chemicals, known as cannabinoids. The two main ones are THC and CBD. THC, tetrahydrocannabinol, is an active ingredient in marijuana. THC gives off some pleasurable effects that smokers are looking for, but it also has some effects that may treat medical problems. When you smoke marijuana, THC goes from your lungs to the bloodstream and causes your brain cells to release the chemical dopamine, leaving you feeling high. CBD, cannabinoid, is a compound that has significant medical marijuana benefits, but does not make you get high.
