Interviewees Similarities
One interesting similarity about the interviews is that all of them decided to go to school to become medical assistants, because it took less time than to go for a bachelor’s degree. “Many people who graduate from such programs struggle to find work. Those who do find work often make little money — too little to repay their debts from the program” (Carey, 2014). Some of the people attracted to becoming medical assistants are people with low income and no knowledge of the resources out there to get scholarships to go to universities. Most of the patients in neurology have illness that degenerates the muscles of the patients and sometimes the patients can be feeling good for several months, but those patients can get a relapse and get worse with their symptoms and those patients can die within weeks and like Amanda Hernandez feels that sometimes it is hard to see how the patients relapse and medical assistants cannot do anything. “They can offer sustained doses of compassion, listening and emotional support—which too many healthcare organizations and an increasing number of physicians do not provide as much as they should, despite frequent use of the term “patient engagement” within the industry” (Hoff, 2016). Medical assistant not only help patients and provider’s needs, but MA’s help each other to find answers to personal problems, they work hand in hand every day that they can feel and see when something is wrong with their coworkers, they cheer each other up to make the person feel better, they also encourage each other to be a better medical assistant by showing each other tips about how to be a better medical assistant. One of the observations in the interview is that most of the MA’s drink water and that when all of them were busy assisting, the person that was less busy took the time to fill all the water
