To begin, I will resume the book in a few paragraphs. The book counts the story of Mary Jane Ramirez a widowed mother of two children: Brad and Stacy. Mary was a supervisor at the “First Guarantee” company, and she had a remarkable reputation for being an outstanding worker. She always finished her daily tasks exceptionally well, she cared for her employees, her teamwork flowed smoothly, and the working environment she created was easygoing and generally tension-free. This perfect workplace changed completely when she was promoted to a position in the infamous “Third floor”. This department was well-known among others for being irresponsible, slow, negative, and unpleasant; and for having a harsh boss. Mary Jane was given the mission to turn …show more content…

Then, I think that we could observe two different types of leaders. Mary Jane’s boss, was always referred to as a jerk because of the bad behavior that he exhibited towards the employees, he was rude, autocratic and annoying. Contrarily, Mary Jane was kind, always willing to listen to her workers, passionate, empathic, etc. 3. Creativity also played a major role in the development of the story. She didn’t limit her alternatives or tried to quit. But instead, she continuously though of new mechanisms to attempt to change the situations. I loved the Fish Market philosophy. I consider that it is completely helpful to deal with our lives, mostly because we are, at some point so mechanized that we forget to find joy in simple things as our everyday activities. We forget of the most fulfilling feelings, such as love, laughter, happiness, pride, etc. Personally, I believe that this book has left a lot of teachings to me. I learned how leadership is more than just theory and how it can be applied to real problems of real life. I stick to the idea that anything we do can be done better if we are willing to change our attitude and regard the positive side of all the situations. This will definitely make our lives easier and less tiresome to carry on. Also, right now I think I needed a lecture this uplifting for the transitional moment that I am going through. This has been very inspirational to me because lately I have not felt much motivation at all to do things, because I find them monotone, but I can change my attitude and make this end of the last semester more
