Malala Yousafzai is one of the biggest activists in women’s right to education. She has made numerous contributions to the women’s rights movement. Malala grew up in a small town in Pakistan. She began getting involved in the educational movement when she was only eleven years old. She has overcame many challenges. When she was just fifteen years old she was shot in the head by the Taliban. Malala continues to be the face of change for young girl’s right to education. She has many accomplishments from starting her own nonprofit, to being the youngest person ever to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. She grew up in Pakistan, in a town called Mingora. Mingora was a popular tourist spot due to its summer festivals; however this began to change once the Taliban tried to take control. Even when she was a child, she was an advocate for girls education, which inevitably became the reason the Taliban issued a death threat against her. Malala is a huge advocate for women’s, both young and old, right to education. When the Taliban began blocking young girls from getting their education, Malala began blogging about the threats they were receiving. Even when the Taliban threatened her life, Malala never wavered and still continued to go to school. On October 9, 2012, while riding the bus back home from school Malala was shot in the head by a member of the Taliban. She was airlifted to a nearby military hospital in Peshawar, The Combined Military Hospital. The hospital is known for being the best medical facility in the region. The bullet had entered above her left eyebrow, and then traveled down her neck and was lodged in her back. They preformed brain surgery because her brain was dangerously swelling. Due to the hard work to the doctors at the hospital, Malala was able to survive the vicious attack. Due to the attack Malala was now known across the world. Her rise to fame gave her the ability to reach people across the globe in order to make a difference. She has done countless things to improve girls right to education and has made numerous achievements. Malala is the center of an international advocacy for young girls education. She has started a nonprofit organization, wrote two best-selling books, and continues to do hundreds of activities throughout the entire world. She started her nonprofit organization, The Malala Fund, a year after the shooting. The fund is described as helping girls go to school and also raise their own voices for the right to education. The Malala fund does not only raise awareness to women’s educational rights, but also raises money. The money goes towards empowering global communities. The funds go to established organizations to help improve their own fight towards girls education. Malala has used some of the money in her home town. In Malala’s home town domestic child labor is one main reason why many girls cannot go to school. So the Malala fund donates money to families so they can send their daughters to school, instead of sending them to work. Also through The Malala Fund, Malala has traveled across the world to places such as; Jordan to see the Syrian refugees, Nigeria to support kidnapped girls who were abducted in order to stop them from going to school, and
