In order for me to influence my follower’s to increase team performance, I must build that trust. Meaning, I must become that effective transformational leader in which my followers have trust in me. These learnings will be applied in my workplace. After the readings, I now understand how crucial trust is in transformational leadership. In the workplace, my focus will be on building cognitive trust among team members so that they will put more efforts into performing the given task.
Lynn Britton story has influence me to keep practicing leadership. Mr. Britton gave me a understanding of how a leader could get things done by taking action. I feel as though I model the way for many people throughout everyday life on and off the field. I model the way by making wise choices that I know will affects others to want better themselves. Britton stories leaning towards modeling the way motivates me to make my team better so we can all accomplish our common goal.
This literature review will discuss the importance of giving performance feedback, it’s proposed benefits for employers, challenges and under what conditions, for example, the system used, can improving performance feedback be recommended. It will also reflect on how such topics may have certain implications for my own work-life and compare these with other organisations and how they utilised such concepts mentioned when giving performance feedback. The first recommendation that I would address using the Transformational Leadership Theory is Time Management. I want to continue to work with my employees and motivate them to go above and beyond in helping our customers achieve their goals while doing a better job of completing my tasks on time. In order to reach this goal, I must partake in time management classes and/or workshops. As human resource professional, our role is to encourage managers and employees to integrate staff development and opportunities for growth. One of the initial steps that can be done is to assess and provide feedback to staff members regarding their knowledge, skills, and abilities. According to the text, Human Resource Management, by authors Byars and Rue (2011)it is critical that the human resource department has a clear understanding of the "strategic and operational plans of the organization" to be successful (Byars et al., 2011, p. 90). The human resource department can then put into motion the needs of the organization on a short-term and a long-term plan (Byars et al., 2011, p. 90).
