In the Battle of Brandywine, he was injured but returned after healing. He rejoined General Washington at Valley Forge. Lafayette was chosen to lead the invasion of Canada, which did not materialize because of other political issues. In February 1778, while trying to see if he would have all the things he needed to be successful at battle he learned there was a need for money, supplies, food, and soldiers.
