Kristallnacht
“On October 18, 1938, on Hitler’s orders, more than 12,000 Jews were expelled from Germany. They were ordered to leave their home in a single night, and were only allowed to take one suitcase each.” (Gilbert 23) All the Jewish people that were expelled were put on trains by the Nazi and sent away. The nights of November 9-10, 1938 are known to many as "The Night of Broken Glass". This time period is when the Nazi went out and attacked Jewish people's businesses, synagogues, and their homes. Kristallnacht was a very hard time for the Jewish people, because of the damage to their buildings, and the loss of culture and life.
Kristallnacht was a very hard time for the Jewish people in Germany because of all the damage the Nazi did to their buildings. Shops were destroyed, synagogues and dwelling houses were set on fire. There is no known reason as to why Hitler and the Nazi decided to destroy the homes and properties of many Jewish families. Hospitals and schools were ransacked too as the attackers demolished buildings with sledgehammers.There were over 7,000 Jewish buildings destroyed and over 1,000 synagogues were set on fire. "The Night of Broken Glass" was an incredibly hard time for the Jewish people.
The Jewish people lost much of their religion during the time of Kristallnacht. Martin Gilbert writes that no event in the history of German Jews between 1933 and 1945 was widely reported as it was happening, and the accounts from the foreign journalists working in Germany sent shock waves around the world. On November 10 and 11, 1938, all around Germany, Jewish men between the ages of sixteen and sixty were seized from their homes and sent to one of the three concentration camps: Dachau, Sachsenhausen, and Buc...

...ason why Roosevelt did this is because he felt that the Jewish people went through a lot of torture and hard times, and he wanted to grant them the opportunity for a better life. The fate of the Jews who had been seized during the Kristallnacht and sent to concentration camps was becoming widely known and publicised.
The Jewish people went through a very difficult time during Kristallnacht, they had a lot of damage to their buildings, and experienced loss of culture and life. The nights of November 9-10, 1938 is known to many as “The Night of Broken Glass”. During this time the Jewish people were forced to live an unfair life. The Jewish people had a lot of destruction to their buildings and loss their culture along the way. Its unfortunate that the Jewish population had to put up with all the torture and neglect they went through because of Hitler and the Nazi.
