Their is not nearly as much money in surfing, it is a sport of passion, they do not surf for money, they do not sell out, they surf because they love surfing; its a passion. When most people think of Texas legacies they think of Sam Houston or Davy Crockett, but they don’t usually think of people like Jane Long. Jane Long is known as ‘The Mother of Texas’. She was given that nickname because she was the first english speaking woman in Texas to give birth.
The free enterprise system is a debatable topic because it allows for competition in the business market, which may or may not work in everyones favor. A good example would be Bill Gates, in which the enterprise system worked successfully for him and helped him become a billionaire. In a free enterprise system, producers decide everything about their products or services, including their prices, ingredients, and what they choose to do with their profits. This also gives freedom to consumers to make their own economical choices. This has allowed businesses to engage in competition, and has been beneficial to many, especially Bill Gates.
During the nineteenth and twentieth century monopolizing corporations reigned over territories, natural resources, and material goods. They dominated banks, railroads, factories, mills, steel, and politics. With companies and industrial giants like Andrew Carnegies’ Steel Company, John D. Rockefeller’s Standard Oil Company and J.P. Morgan in which he reigned over banks and financing. Carnegie and Rockefeller both used vertical integration meaning they owned everything from the natural resources (mines/oil rigs), transportation of those goods (railroads), making of those goods (factories/mills), and the selling of those goods (stores). This ultimately led to monopolizing of corporations. Although provided vast amount of jobs and goods, also provided ba...
Free enterprise is very important in an ever growing world. The idea of free enterprise, or capitalism, is that any individual has the opportunity to create a business and sell a good or provide a service with almost no government intervention. A capitalistic economy helps both the supplier of goods and the consumer of the goods. One of capitalism’s basic principles is that an individual works hard for incentives. Free enterprise means that businesses are directed by the laws of supply and demand. Capitalism also forces businesses to produce things in an efficient way. Another great aspect about free enterprise is that there is a lot of flexibility in the economy. These are just some of the many factors that make a free enterprise economy so important.
Overall, free market is a necessity if there is to be any forward movement and progression of society. In a controlled system nothing ever changes, and while this can prevent change for the worse, it also stunts change for the better. In free enterprise systems, people with brains and determination, such as Andrew Carnegie, are able to take advantage of new opportunities. While this system will not help individuals float along, and they are liable to sink (into debt and/or remorse), those who have the courage to try will find that success is only a risk
The free enterprise system makes it essential for new products to be thought of and reflect what consumers want. Apple products were thought of because they were something new and different and because they were something that people would want. Without the free enterprise system and the constant changing needs and wants of consumers Apple products likely would never have been thought of. Some people may argue that the free enterprise system had no influence on Jobs's success with Apple. The free enterprise system motivates entrepreneurs like Steve Jobs to constantly be thinking and striving for something new and innovative.
When the topic of American economics arises, the infamous Robber Barons of the 19th Century often springs to mind. They are often glorified as "Captains of Industry" for their money making strategies and enterprising methods. Those who hold this view probably do not know the evils of the laissez-faire capitalism in which the Robber Barons believed and participated. They wanted an unrestricted system of economics so that they could amass as much money as they could to out do each other and control the power in society. They were not as glorious and generous as some people make them out to have been.
The free enterprise system allows individuals to make their own economic decisions without government restriction.Oprah Winfrey is just one entrepreneur who would have not been made successful without this system. This woman is a self-made billionaire with respect to her pursuance in acting, producing, television hosting, and as chairman of Harpo Inc. Many charities have been impacted from the donations of Winfrey and her actions. As a once poor and African American she is living proof that free enterprise allows anyone to become successful.
“The chief of police got my brother killed. He don’t care. He shows no emotion at all.” – Stevante Clark. On the evening of March 18th 2018 in Sacramento, California, a 22 year-old unarmed African American man Stephon Clark, who was a loving father of two sons was shot and killed in his own backyard by two Sacramento Police officers, one black and one white. Which reignited the national debate on race and policing in the United States.
Surfing has come a long way since it was first conceived (roughly 1500 years ago). From the Polynesian “watermen” and Hawaiian Kings, to the European takeover in Hawaii and surfing's American debut in the early twentieth century and all the way through present day, surfing has had a rich history. Over the decades, surfing has fit in to a number of roles in society, but whether we surfers are seen as beach-bums or heroes (as of late), we still surf only because we love it, because the ocean’s calls us, because nothing else on this planet can create the sensation felt by riding a wave.
In todays society with our newer free enterprise system it is much easier for both entrepreneur and artists alike to not only make a name for themselves but also fairly make a decent fortune for them to live off. Though not regularly considered entrepreneurs many artists particularly in the music and entertainment industry should be looked at as such. The example that will be the focus in this instance is going to be Snoop Dogg who without a free enterprise system would have never been able to make the name for himself or the millions that he and his family enjoy and spread throughout this great country. Due to the lack of government involvement he was able to not just manage his own finances and businesses but more
Its easier to start at an earlier age at the beginning of the 13th century surfing fell out of favor but is now booming and wind surfing is very popular because it was banned by the government because of the dangers of it but now is legal and almost every able bodied person does it as a stress reliever or a time
Technology has enabled both consumers and producers to communicate across the world and exchange ideas and products. These advancements have led to the development of innovative collaborations that improve the quality of goods and services provided by businesses. Regardless, such successful business opportunities would not be possible without the practice of free enterprise. For one make-up junkie known as Jeffree Star, the practice of free enterprise has allowed an androgynous entrepreneur to grow a massive audience on YouTube and consequently construct a cosmetic empire with his own highlighters, blushes, lipsticks, and eye shadows.
Individuals and privately owned companies possess the majority of the means of manufacture. The resources used to produce goods and services are privately owned. The resources that are produced are also privately owned by the individual or company. In this type of system, workers have choice about what sorts of work they will do and the opportunity to change jobs. Individual initiative allows individuals have the liberty to start and operate their own businesses. In a free enterprise system, citizens control the production and distribution of goods and service. Citizens are also allowed to gain from their own investments or undertaking. Since individuals control the production of goods and services, multiple individuals and companies will offer the same goods and services. In order to receive more profit and to blow the competition out of the water, companies need to maintain higher quality at a lower price.
