Juvenile Justice

Would you sentence a 10-year old kid to prison for dozens of years? Juveniles have been committing crimes and the court system is treating the more severe cases as adults. Juvenile criminals should not be sentenced as adults. Kids are not the same as adults so they shouldn’t be treated as adults. Some kids do not know what they are doing is wrong. Some may not know the severity and impact of what they have done.

Children are not the same as adults. Their bodies and minds are still growing and developing. A child does not have the reasoning or brainpower to comprehend what they might do. If an adult hands a gun to a child the child will want to touch every part of the gun. If the adult did not properly maintain the gun and left the weapon loaded the child will pull the trigger and may unintentionally hurt someone. A child’s brain is not grown or developed enough to manifest a plan to intentionally harm someone. Children should not be compared to adults in criminal courts.
