All in all, the use of clickers by students in school systems helps better provide a more active education that keeps students engaged. Why is active learning a good way of teaching and should be used in schools? Active education is praised by many school systems, and Margret Martyn, Vice President of academic affairs and student services at Harold Washington College, states that active education is “one of seven principles of good practice in higher education.” By engaging students and getting the students interested on a topic or subject, students learn better because they pay attention more. Ian Beatty, an educational researcher at UMass Amherst, states that by engaging students, students “develop a more solid, integrated, useful understanding of concepts and their interrelationships and applicability” (Beatty). An engaged student will be better able to remember information discussed during class.
Mindsets of staff, teachers, and parents must be willing to try inclusive models. Administrative support is largely helpful when transitioning to these models (Idol, 2006). Cooperation between teachers, schools, and districts can make this process easier because it streamlines the process and standardizes practices across multiple settings (Houtveen & Van de Grift, 2001). Early interventions, whether targeted skills practice or behavioral interventions, also help educators make early advances with students which lessens the burden on special education in later years (Houtveen & Van de Grift, 2001). Finally, creating a universal design can help all student succeed and will help intervene early for students with unidentified learning disabilities (Idol, 2006).
As many of us know, it is absolutely necessary to make good grades in school. You may ask yourself,''Why is it so important?'' It is very important to do good in school because it will totally help us in the future. It will help us through the grade we are in right now all the way to collage. Having high test score is usually a sign that you are doing well in the subject, that you are comfortable in that subject. If you aren’t as stressed over a subject, then you will have a more ideal educational experience that being stressed over the subject. A great teacher can also change the test scores of their students
It will also make students happier and less stressed. Then the best gain is that our schools academic will be strengthened beyond that of our neighboring schools. Our school will work as a whole. These opportunities to change our school with a required credit can have immense pay-offs. All we have to do is reach out and grab the idea and invoke it in our school.
Low self-esteem is being seen as a barrier to participating in learning while high self-esteem helps us to be able to progress in our learning (Kathryn James and Christine Nightingale 2005) (13). Decades of research support the notion that believing in your ability to do something enhances your ability to do it. It is important for us to be confident in learning as it will help increasing our learning capacity. Our performance is normally influenced by our confidence. Research shows that self-efficacy influences academic motivation, learning and achievement (Briggs 2014).
Furthermore, it has been proven in regular schools that students gain information easier the smaller the student-teacher ratio is. If this is the case for school, the results are even better for homeschooling. Homeschooling is one-to-one teaching, and that means parents get to help their kids individually. Some parents are stricter than others, and that strictness can be placed upon kids to reach for the highest grades possible. Homeschooling offers a solution for these high-achieving parents that allows them to further interact with their kids and monitor their success (“Benefits of Homeschooling”).
Lucy’s time in the first grade classroom also gives her a chance to move away from outer-directness as a way of problem-solving. She will gain confidence from feedback of the students and teachers that serve as positive reinforcers for her to make decisions by her own motivation and choosing. Research shows that high-needs students benefit significantly from cross-age and peer tutoring in areas including self-esteem, locus of control and social skills. If Lucy’s attitude toward school is positive, she is also more likely to graduate.
