With the need of workers with a high dreger who can we be letting people with the education and patient not work. Why do so may find the need to keep the american dream out the reach of many who worked hard for it. The story of so many high school student not be able to attend the school of their dream because they are not ligalal. This is a story I hear often one of a student who has worked so hard and has been able to get good grades be the first in their family to graduates and have no where to go. Some do make it to college, community college that is where they have to work and study because they don't get the help they deserve.
Therefore, high school teachers expect their students to turn in assignments on time and be in class. If those expectations are not met, some high school teachers will not accept the assignment or will expect the students to find out what they missed on their own. “The transition from a public high to a top U. can be difficult, stressful, and frustrating. You will have to learn to excel in... ... middle of paper ... ...cement Participation and University Academic Success in the First Semester: Controlling for Selected High School Academic Abilities." Journal of College Admission (Summer2010).
These students come to college to realize it takes time, some disappointment, and harder work than they were used to in Public Schools. Some never receive a desire to learn and are passed on year by year without proper knowledge of the subject matter. These students eventually drop out, or may graduate without plans of education themselves further. They feel that they did their time, and they want to go ahead and live life. Then there are those exceptional students who yearn for knowledge.
College is a huge dream for a decent amount of students, but these individuals that we, students, look up to through-out this career make us terrified of the thought. Right from the gecko, our plan for our future is middle school, high school, work, college, than life long career. After getting bombarded for so long, students want to escape the stress and worries. By taking a gap year after high school, students can clear the mind of any school related stress and relax. No more tests, judgement, ridicule, and
Sadly, high school did not prepare students as well as a majority of them thought that it did. New college students are in need of some guidance and a push in the right direction; instead of a push in a direction that is not going to be needed. The freshman, and any other students that are struggling should be focusing on their mental health and organization from school and their life outside of school. Not being able to keep the two separate and organized could greatly affect a student’s mental health, and damage their school work. All Golden West College students should be required to take two semesters of learning how to do things that everyone should learn after they leave high school, such as: how to balance a checkbook, how to do taxes, what a mortgage is, and many more things that they will need to know in life.
Although the student will be successful the students will have already forgotten about his family. With the load of homework and complex material students are learning; close minded parents are having a hard time connecting with their children. This just goes on to prove Gregg Andrew correct when he states, “Every bit of learning takes you further from your parents” (Lubrano 581). It is a shock that college will corrupt families, since it is seen as the tool to be a successful family person. When in reality it will make a person successful, but as far the family goes it will have to be post aside.
As students finish their last year of high school and get ready to take on college they will realize that they are not even close to being ready to take on the next step of life. As life advances in technology, classes are becoming harder and take more brain power to work out problems or write papers. Students are not used to using their brains because in high school their main focuses are on test and to maintain their GPA. When students move on to college to further their education and then suddenly fail, fingers are pointed at who 's to blame. Society standards continue to rise and many students can not keep up and begin to struggle emotionally.
Abolishing High School: The Pursuit of Creativity, Interest, and Adulthood High school is one of those milestones in an individual’s life that will be remembered for a long time to come. Whether one’s experiences are positive and allow him to find his purpose in life or whether they are so terrible that his view of education is tainted forever, what happens in high school affects how one’s future will turn out. Leon Botstein, author of “Let Teenagers Try Adulthood,” states that the traditional high school system should be abolished because it is not benefitting teenagers. He states that cliques of popularity and athleticism and teachers who care more about money than education stand in the way of proper learning for teenagers. Botstein further argues that school stifles students creativity and that they really do not want to be in school.
Education is an element that is the key to success, and today is not taken seriously enough. People are uninterested so they drop-outs in high school and some leave or flunk-out in their first year of college. So, what is it that’s driving students to drop-out? Students spend too much time and stress with a curriculum that they can’t seem to pass or stay motivated with, and the solution is to alter schools so that the students are encouraged and prepared to go forth through college. Knowing what the key issues are and changing the curriculum so that it prepares them for their futures, is what determines the success of government.
In our educational system today many students tend to drop out early due to the fact of lack of motivation or they can’t be in school anymore. Charles Murray, author of “Are Too Many People Going to College?” states the importance of the educational system in America. He has different viewpoints on whether certain people should attend college or not. The lack of interest in school and learning is playing a major effect on the student’s decisions to attend class. However, many students just attend college for a semester to prove to other people that they can survive college for a small amount of time.
