Culture plays a major role in shaping a country or region. According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, culture can be defined as “a way of thinking, behaving, or working that exits in a place or organization” (Merriam-Webster, n.d.). As with most countries, Jordan’s culture is built around it geographical territory, economy, military affairs, and religion. Jordan is an Arab Kingdom in Western Asia. The kingdom bordered by Iraq, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Syria. Climate and terrain in Jordan depends on what region of the country you are in, as Jordan is generally divided into three separate regions. Most of the crops grown in Jordan Valley are produced on irrigated land, while the highlands are primarily rain fed. Jordan’s agriculture makes up about 3.3% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) (Jordan in Perspective, 2011). Tourism is becoming one of Jordan’s most important means of revenue. Biblical sites are a major attraction, including the Jordan River - which has traditionally thought to be the baptismal site of Jesus. The Dead Sea and city of Petra are other main attractions, which bring tourists to Jordan. Tourism provides approximately 14% of Jordan’s GDP (Jordan in Perspective, 2011). Industrial revenue generates 30% of the GDP for Jordan. Industries include clothing and textiles, pharmaceuticals, fertilizers, mining, and refining of petroleum. Most of these industries are based on the natural resources found in Jordan and, although Jordan is naturally low on resources, industrial revenue remains their major source of income. It can also have a deep impact on the viewpoints of those around you, whether negatively or positively. No matter how a person goes about their everyday life, they can rise above the expectations of their culture to change the world around them. Culture does not have to be the basis of every thought, word, or deed of a person.

That shows how much Mc Donald?s has an affect on U.S. With Michael Jordan, advertising and supporting McDonalds then everyone will notice him and realize who he is. Nike is a footwear company, which thousands of Americans purchase there shoes each day. When Jordan came to the NBA, he signs a contract with Nike worth $30mil (Jordan Michael Bio). He created the shoes called ?Air Jordan?s? and created a line of shoes called ?Jordan?s? which made him very famous. Nike?s profits upped 20% through 1984-1986 helping them to be the dominate shoe company in America (?The Best Frequent Flyer?). Still in 2007 His brand of shoes are still making money in stores everywhere around the U.S. Nike sold more Air Jordan?s than any basketball shoe ever made (?Sports Illustrated For Kids?).

In a country where its economy is suffering, it is difficult to maintain the trust between the government and its citizens. Oftentimes, the lack of stability in a country’s economy acts as a push factor that influences migrants to emigrate from their home country to another in search of economic opportunity elsewhere. In the event that a country with a weak economy must support a group of refugees, the country is in dire need of economic support and funding from other nations. An example of such a country is Jordan, a state neighboring Syria that has accepted over 1.4 million Syrian refugees as of 2015. Despite being a sanctuary for refugees since 2011, Jordan is unable to offer long-term support for Syrian refugees due to its struggling economy. As of June 2015, there were 628,427 registered Syrian refugees in Jordan. However, a Jordanian census performed in November 2015 showed that there are 1.4 million Syrian refugees residing in the country, meaning that more than 50% of Syrian refugees in Jordan are unregistered. A report done by the World Bank in 2016 revealed that the Syrian refugee influx to Jordan has cost the kingdom more than $2.5 billion a year which amounts to about 6% of Jordan's GDP and about a quarter of the government annual revenues. Promised international aid has fallen several hundreds of millions of dollars short of the total cost. This has caused the kingdom's public debt to swell to 95% of its GDP in 2016 and has severely crippled the growth of its economy.
