Introduction Job satisfaction can be defined in many ways, overall it is a collection of feelings and beliefs that result in positive emotional state resulting from one’s job or job experience (Saari, L.M., & Judge, T.A. 2004). It is difficult to directly identify what influences job satisfaction and measure the level of satisfaction each employee retains. What constitutes as “satisfied” defers for different people; it could be influenced by career opportunities, employee/manager relationships, compensations, and overall work environment. Organization’s recognize that the level of job satisfaction within their employees can have a vast impact on their job performance, therefore it is essential to distinguish techniques to measure and increase career fulfillment.

When employees are showing low job commitment and satisfaction, levels of turnover and truancy increase resulting in a decrease of productivity and profit. Consequentially, it is important for organizations to know how to accurately measure job satisfaction and find creative and cost-effective ways to increase fulfillment.
Job Satisfaction Survey One technique organizations can use to identify job satisfaction is to use surveys. Surveys help to make a significant connection between criteria for job satisfaction and business goals and they can help businesses learn from their employees. Surveys can be used to gauge how employees feel about their jobs, how employees want to develop their careers, how they feel about their co-workers and their performances, and their relationship with management. When delivering surveys, it is important to be explicit about confidentiality, make responses anonymous, and avoid corporate-speak (Job Satisfaction Survey, 2012).
