The concept of Multiple Intelligences has come out after Howard Gardner redefined intelligence. According to Gardner’s theory, human beings have different types of intelligence and based on their respective intelligence types, human beings have different skills in different areas. Human beings can be more successful and productive on areas they are skillful. Therefore, choosing appropriate professions, in accordance with one’s intelligence type, is important for individuals as well as for the society. This study aims to develop a technique to help high school students in the profession selection process using artificial intelligence. Questionnaire has been utilized as the research method and the data have been analyzed via Fuzzy Logic Toolbox which is subunit of the software called MATLAB. It was aimed to direct students to appropriate profession and build more successful and productive professions. Key Words; Artificial Intelligence, Multiple Intelligence, Fuzzy Logic, Fuzzy Logic Toolbox, Vocational Guidance, Decision Making 1. Introduction The profession is a title of the individuals, which is usually earned after a series of education and a process requiring a special knowledge, skill and labor to have more comfortable life. The meaning of profession may differ from person to person. For some persons it may mean only money; for somebodies earning respect; for someone to generate something new and realize capabilities, for some others it may mean all of them together too. Satisfaction, feeling of accomplishment and happiness, which are reached in work-life, affect the daily life of a person. In contrast to this condition, dissatisfaction, failure and unhappiness in the work-life may cause some psychological issues. Some technologic areas that fuzzy logic is used can be ordered like that: • Cameras being controled by fuzzy logic (Sanyo –Fisher, Canon, Minolta) • Video cameras (Panasonic) • Washing machines and dish washers (Matsushita) • The control of Sundai city subway in Japan (Hitachi) • Breaking system in vehicles (Nissan) • Vacuum cleaners (Matsushita) • Elevators (Lift) (Fujitec-Toshiba, Mitsubishi, Hitachi) • Air condititioners (Matsushita) • Televisions and computers (Sony) • Cement industry (Mitsubishi Chem.) • Steel industry (Nippon Steel) • Car gearbox systems (Subaru, Nissan) Also it is used in many other areas such as toaster, microwave oven, handwriting recognation, helicopter flight control system, etc. (Ural, 2006). Application areas are getting more more by the time.
First it is important to identify what a profession is. A profession is a paid occupation which has involved extensive or prolonged training to equip individuals within the area with skills, knowledge and competencies which provide them with the expertise they need to support their organisations.
Often it is enough is to solve problems in a very specific domain. Expert systems are often called upon when this type of intelligence is desired. Knowledge based systems have enjoyed commercial success and have shown promise as candidates for practical intelligent systems of the near future [1].
The Turing test was a test introduced by Alan Turing (1912-1954) and it involves having a human in one room and an artificial intelligence, otherwise known as a computer, in another and as well as an observer. Turing himself suggested that as long as the observer is unaware whether it’s a human or a computer in either room the computer should be regarded as having human-level intelligence. (Nunez, 2016). But does the “human-level” intelligence mean it should be considered to be conscious? Is it more important to be clever or to be aware of being clever? Is it moral to create a conscious being that just serves our purposes? Aside from the moral implications there are technical implications and parameters
AI is behavior of a machine, which, if performed by a human being, would be called intelligent. It makes machines smarter and more useful, and is less expensive than natural intelligence.
Some people do best at solving problems in math, while others may do best at writing poems and stories. In Phyllis Adcock’s article he explains a theory created by Howard Garner on Multiple Intelligences. “Howard Garner’s theory that began with seven Multiple Intelligences in the 1980’s has now evolved to eight. Garner suggested that the brain has many capacities for learning that he called Intelligences” (Adcock, 50). Adcock explains Garner’s eight intelligences as Linguistic, Mathematical, Naturalistic, Spatial, Bodily, Musical, Interpersonal and Intrapersonal. To give a brief description of the most common intelligences, Linguistic Intelligence entails a heightened capacity for using words and language, Mathematical Intelligence entails a heightened capacity for numerical or logical patterns, Bodily Intelligence entails a well-developed skill of physical movement, and Musical Intelligence entails an enhanced capacity to recognize rhythm and patterns. This information from the article shows that intelligence really does contain much more, than people realize. It is also clear to see how everyone learns differently, when observing the different career paths chosen by people. A doctor most likely chose the career because he realized that he excelled in science and math. In contrast, a professional athlete may have excelled the most in sports so he decided to continue
Fuzzy logic is designed to solve problems in the same way that humans do: by considering all available
In order to see how artificial intelligence plays a role on today’s society, I believe it is important to dispel any misconceptions about what artificial intelligence is. Artificial intelligence has been defined many different ways, but the commonality between all of them is that artificial intelligence theory and development of computer systems that are able to perform tasks that would normally require a human intelligence such as decision making, visual recognition, or speech recognition. However, human intelligence is a very ambiguous term. I believe there are three main attributes an artificial intelligence system has that makes it representative of human intelligence (Source 1). The first is problem solving, the ability to look ahead several steps in the decision making process and being able to choose the best solution (Source 1). The second is the representation of knowledge (Source 1). While knowledge is usually gained through experience or education, intelligent agents could very well possibly have a different form of knowledge. Access to the internet, the la...
Unhealthy work/life balance leads to dissatisfaction with work, oneself, or family. Unhappy worker is less likely to put all his effort into the job which leads to extended time for projects needed to be finished (McNamara, Pitt-Catsouphes, Matz-Costa, Brown, & Valcour, 2013). Being dissatisfied in one area affects the mood for all three. In a situation when one becomes unhappy and dissatisfied in all those areas it leads to further dissatisfaction.
Artificial intelligence in general, is related with the field of computer science, but it has important linkages with other areas such as Mathematics, Psychology, Cognition, Biology and Philosophy, are among many other fields. Human beings have the ability to combine the knowledge of all these fields that ultimately benefit progress in the pursuit to craft artificial intelligent existence.
For the last decade, there has been an ongoing debate on whether or not the increase of the use of artificial intelligence was good or bad for people. For starters, artificial intelligence is technology that can take in large amounts of information from a domain and then use that information to make a decision that can help complete a specified goal. This just means that there are machines that are capable of doing the same jobs as humans but better and more efficient. An increase in the use of artificial intelligence would help boost the economy by increasing the efficiency of businesses and by creating new types of jobs. If the economy gets even better, then the lives of many people would get better as well.
As stated before, this is normally done by trying to convert the knowledge of a real human expert directly into the fuzzy rules. This can be a tedious and unreliable process of trial and error.
Artificial intelligence is a branch of computer science. Almost every electronic device you use has some extent of it, Siri uses speech dictation and narrative intelligence, the kinect on the Xbox One and 360 uses motion detecting. Artificial intelligence is capable of beating the world chess champions of chess but there is speculation of cheating. A few branches of AI are logical ai, search, pattern recognition, representation, inference, common sense knowledge and reasoning, learning from experience, planning, and heuristics.
Human intelligence is an intricate interaction of billions of neurons, which scientists still do not understand to this day. Machine intelligence is based on algorithms or complex mathematics equations that act as the driving force for reasoning and thought for machines. These robots use algorithms to make its own decisions by not outlining any parameters in how to complete a task like a normal machine, but using its own reasoning to determine its own solution. A.I technology is still in its infant stages, but it has already made major improvements in the 21st century. Companies like Amazon already use A.I automation to assist workers in their warehouses to increase logistic productivity. Artificial Intelligence is still in the process of sprouting, but it has a bright future ahead of
Nowadays. Information technology (IT) is a familiar term for the people and the expert. This technology is developing rapidly and introducing in all social fields as well as influencing on all sciences and being affected by the other sciences. All processes and steps of remedial –healthy cares have been depended heavily on management information and its transfer. Information technology is also used increasingly for new medical practices, effective and active management of health cares and medical profession knowledge. In medical profession is necessarily required the informed scientists and intelligent expert having enough knowledge of related matters, comprehensive knowledge of medical devices and its technology as well as information and communication technologies. Medical informatics (data processing ) science which is developing and growing rapidly includes decision making based on the information, therapy display, systematic management, information saving and its retaining, management system, model identifying and image and signal processing. Expert system is a subdivision of artificial intelligence and an expert system is the one having expertise within a special field and may be applied to that field for decision making and/or helping the expert people for decision making [1]. Expert system is a component of the process for intelligently automation of the processes regarded as artificial intelligence. Once John MC charty created Lisp language in masachoset institute of technology in 1960, it was as the initial step toward an expert system . from that date onward, a variety of expert systems have been developed and applied like CMS, XI-PLUS, ROSIE, OPS5, EMYCIN, EXPERT and so on. An expert system is comprised o...
The question of machine thinking involves the notation of a machine being capable of thinking the way humans think. It would be common for people to quickly say that machines cannot think like them because computers do not have a biological brain or because machines are tools and they cannot work without the help of people. For example, typewriters are only capable of the action of putting words on paper when the person typing presses on the keys, otherwise, the typewriter is just a piece of metal. This example shows that machines are dependent on the information that is given or inputted into the machines and would suggest that all of the thinking is done by the people who put in the information.
