These were hard times for all of us. Many people lost their homes and many lost their lives. People were scared and others had to make the hard choices that others could not. After Japan declared war on the United States, innocent Japanese citizens were mistreated and sent to camps where they lost their rights and were treated like criminals. As a result of Japan’s forces, others had to pay for something that they did not even do. After Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, the United States and Britain declared war on Japan, which caused a nationwide prejudice against all Japanese-Americans, which caused President Roosevelt to sign the Executive Order 9066and send Americans to internment camps, then after all of this the U.S. bombs Japan, ending the war and eventually congress rescinds the Executive Order 9066. After 18 months of planning, Japanese forces finally decided to take action. Their goal was to cripple the U.S. fleet so they could attack and capture the Philippines and Indo-China. Their goal for attacking and capturing the Philippines and Indo-China is to secure raw materials needed to maintain its position as a global military and economic power. If successful, the Japanese empire would extend to Australia, New Zealand, and India. Japan`s Empire could extend further if they crippled the U.S. fleet. On a beautiful Hawaiian morning the Japanese launched a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor breaking the peace of the beautiful Hawaiian morning. The damage was severe: 18 naval vessels (including eight battleships) sunk or heavily damaged, 188 planes destroyed, and over 2,000 servicemen killed; thus, shattering many people’s hearts. In times of war you have to make the tuff choices. Other times you have to make a choice that you know is not right but make it for the great or good of your country. Some were miss treated others brutally murdered, but in the end it is the result of power and your will to push things too far. Millions of people were killed in World War II and thousands of people hearts were shattered. In the end some Japanese-Americans were able to forgive us and continue living here while others hated us and moved back home. In the war Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, and the United States retaliated by placing Japanese-Americans in camps of torture and prisonment. In times of desperation we resulted in using atomic bombs not thinking about the amount of lives that would be lost. We tried resulting to peace but instead it resulted to death.
