Hello, I am here to talk you about D-Day that happened in the year of 1944 Operation overlord is the actual name for D-day.
Have any of you heard of a general named Dwight Eisenhower? ( wait for the audience to nod their heads)

Within the first few weeks of 1944 Nazi Germany took over an allied city in France. General Eisenhower started to make a plan to stop Germany from taking more of France. He is known for his excellence in planning operations from his training. With his excellence in planning, he got the plan done in the short time period he had.

His written letter was delivered to the hands of the soldiers. In part of the letter, he wrote he states, “The enemy will fight savagely.” He wants his soldiers to stay brave. President Roosevelt was going to make a speech on every radio broadcasting station in the U.S and instead of making a speech to the people he made a prayer instead, he stated “ On this very moment will you all join me in a prayer.”
Eisenhower wrote a little note to himself that says he will accept all blame if the mission failed. He put that note in his pocket and it stayed there. If his mission failed Germany would have had more power over Europe. His reputation would be destroyed because his mission failed and he would be the one to blame. His run for president would come to an end. He knows that his future will depend on this mission. Operation overlord was a success with the planning that the general came up with. He saved many innocent people from being killed. His great planning and the four days of good weather paid off. Eisenhower’s future had some great plans. With the success of the mission that Eisenhower planned will have more people willing to vote for general Eisenhower for president. His soldiers that survived has returned back to their homes. He has even a better reputation for leading his forces the battle in Normandy, France against Nazi Germany. Even though the allied forces were outnumbered they were able to complete the mission.
