In the U.S., the government implements smog standards that are to be met by cars every year. With the population increasing in the world, so do the cars that are being driven everyday, which means the pollution released by cars also increases. A hybrid car consists of the generation of two fuels to power a vehicle. The most efficient hybrid vehicle today have both an electric and a combustion engine that is integrated in the vehicle’s drivetrain (Hybrid Cars para. 1). The price range for a hybrid car is quite expensive, compared to that of a gasoline powered car. Also, a gasoline powered car can be refueled in a matter of minutes at the gas pump, while a hybrid vehicle depending on the capacity of the battery, can take hours to fully recharge. With the gas powered vehicles having an advantage over the hybrid vehicle in refueling time, this means gasoline powered vehicles can travel a much further distance than a hybrid vehicle at a faster rate. The hybrid vehicle is looked down by many people, not only because it is very expensive to buy one, but also it is not quite eye appealing to many. A hybrid vehicle is not going to have as much torque as a gasoline vehicle, therefore it needs a lot of help from the bodykit itself. Using aerodynamics and weight reduction, a hybrid vehicle is capable of barely matching the amount of torque a gasoline powered vehicle creates. Gasoline powered vehicles are not in any way helpful towards having a cleaner atmosphere, that is why with the purchase of a new hybrid vehicle in the state of California the owner receives a certified sticker in which it states the “vehicle has pure zero emission”, with that sticker visible on the car, the driver can use any of the HOV lanes for a quicker commute on highways (Eligible vehicle list para. 1-2). Probably the most useful benefit a hybrid owner has, is the money a hybrid car will save at the fuel pump rather than that of a gas powered car. A hybrid vehicle’s price upfront is quite expensive to some, but the money being spent upfront could be reimbursed over time with
