Industrial Revolution Essay

The invention of the nineteenth century was a time of innovation, improving, and rapid growth. Inventions during the 1800’s changed American life. It improved the middle and upper class but had a negative effect on the lower class. The new transportation, new manufacturing, and new communications transformed many lives.
First of all, the explosion of new inventions caused a major change in American history; this event was called the Industrial Revolution. It arrived in the United States after Britain had their revolution that caused a ripple effect resulting in the revolution in the United States .For instance; Samuel Slater came from Britain and introduced a new successful textile mill to America. There were also many changes that arrived as well, including an increasing income and population in cities. In addition, the new revolution caused society to divide into classes. One of these classes of people was the middle class. The middle class was an overall intermediate and average class that was in-between the two other classes. The other classes were the upper and lower class. Upper class was the highest ranking of all the classes and was also the wealthiest. Also, the last class was the lower or more commonly called the working class. Lower class was the poorest and the most working of the three classes. Inventions were the key to most of the changes that occurred during the revolution hence, the Industrial Revolution. The textile mills had a great impact in the nineteenth century. Introduced by Samuel Slater a skilled British mechanic who immigrated to the United States and the first textile mill was opened in Pawtucket Rhode Island. This shows how the lower class felt when they had to go through so much to keep up with the innovation happening around them and when they had no choice other than to work in unfair conditions. At the same time, the upper and middle class needed the lower class to stay where they were at similar to if there were blocks stacked up high and the bottom level was the lower class the middle was the middle class and the top was the upper class. If the lower class is removed one by one, the structure would be unstable causing the middle and upper class to come crashing down. Same as the way it was during the nineteenth century, when the lower class didn’t benefit from the inventions of the 1800’s and the upper and middle class benefited greatly.
