Participation in sport
Sport is an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. Everybody has done sport before, therefore different people have different opinions towards sport. In the case of students, many pupils think that participation in sport may improve their academic performance but others may think that participation in sport may distract them from their school work. In this essay, I will demonstrate that participation in sport will improve academic performance and have positive impact for pupils’ future life. Firstly I will discuss on the importance of sport for pupils, secondly the benefit of participation in sport and how it improve academic achievement will be explained. Sports activities and interests provide many positive opportunities for children. We live in a competitive society therefore we must teach our children to function in competition and how to both win and lose as good sportsman. Children must learn that winning and losing are both temporary, and that they can't give up or quit. Learning to become a team player is also important for children who may prefer to be the Centre of attention. (Rimm’s,S. 2008). Participate in sport teaches children to learn mistakes from losing. Losing in competition can be seen as an opportunity to improve ourselves because pupils may find their weaknesses and try to overcome their weaknesses. Pupils can build confidence from participation of sport. Children need to begin involvement in less competitive sports at first which they can achieve improvement compared to past accomplishment to measure their own growth. This will help pupils to build their confidence
