HOME VISITING
This concept was taken from module 6 “theories and concepts of public health nursing process”, sub-topic 3 “principles and concepts of home visiting”.
Home visiting can be defined as a process whereby the health professional visits the client in his or her own residence in order to evaluate client’s health condition and provide necessary health services.
Home visiting creates better atmosphere for clients to open up to the health care providers about their conditions and seek health.
Home visiting is not a new concept, it have been in existence for a very long time now, for more than 100 years. It have been used as a strategy to improve the health and well-being of families.

She uses this skill to find out their problem and ensures that she solves their problem. This is the stage where health care is administered to the families.
TERMINATION PHASE: this stage only occurs when the health care provider have achieved the goal of helping family return back to normal health. Also it can be when family have properly learnt about health promotion activities. The health care provider have to make an evaluation to know if the goals of her visit were achieved. She should also ensure that proper recordings is done.
Home visits have many advantages such as;
-the nurse is able to see the patient in their home and get to know about their family situation.
-the family members will feel more comfortable in their own environment.
-the health care provider will understand the socio-economic status of the patient and this will help them know how best to assist the family.
-it will help the health care provider in administering care based on the available resources.

-The birth rate for teens 15-17 years was 9.1 per 1,000 and 18-19 years was 36.1 per 1,000 (2010-2012)
-33% of births were unmarried mothers
-7.9% of mothers giving birth had a low educational level (2012)
-70,000 children under 5 years of age were living in poverty (2011)
-4,434 (3.5 per 1000) children 17 years and younger were abused or neglected (2011).
After the research, the government realized that all this problems can only be tackled through home visits so that the people will feel free to relate their problems to the health professionals and proper health education will be given.
The centers for disease and control (CDC) task force on community preventive services reviewed 25 studies on home visiting and concluded, “There is strong evidence to recommend home visitation to reduce child maltreatment”.
