Environmental Science: the branch of science which utilizes the relations between the chemical, physical, and biological components of the environment to learn how the earth works, how organisms are affected by these components, how humans affect the earth, and how to deal with ecological problems.
Relevance: Environmental Science has a significant role globally as it allows humans to realize the impact of their decisions on other organisms as well as the Earth as a whole. These decisions can be related to technology, waste disposal, and use of raw materials.

Experiment: a test or series of tests that a scientist conducts under certain conditions to learn about a natural phenomenon; used to validate a hypothesis or test a theory.
Relevance: Experiments are critical to all types of sciences because they allow scientists to perform tests that help explain why certain events in nature occur. Likewise, environmental scientists utilize experiments to test if their scientific theories are correct and to gain a greater understanding of the environment. By learning more about the environment through experiments, scientists can determine what actions harm the earth and what actions benefit it. Natural experiments do not include any controlled factors.
