Many people have different opinions about immigrants. Some people believe immigrants steal their jobs, get free handouts, and are using America’s resources. However, immigrants are crucial to the economic growth for America without the immigrants’ here to give good qualities to the United States, the U.S. would not be so successful in developing technology, and the technological issue would be far worse. Immigrants brings in wealth, variety of knowledge, skills and future scientists, engineering, mathematicians and doctors that enrich America’s economy. One day I had an interesting conversation with one of my coworkers Amy about school grants. The first response I got from her was “I did not get any benefits even ought I am born raised here. The immigrants and the illegal immigrants easily get the freebies such as free housing allowance, free education and food stamps while I have to pay for my son’s college tuition fees”. Her comment made me think when I went to the Social Security Department to update my social security status from immigrant to citizen I asked the social security officer what is the benefit of changing the status. The officer replied, “When you and your children apply for college grants and social security benefits you will see the difference. You will be given the priority as being an American for any benefits you needed. Some people do not understand until they apply for grants either they will be rejected or receive reduced grants. I walked out of the office saying to myself “That’s interesting”. However, I was more interested to find out if it is true about immigrants and illegal immigrants getting freebies like my co-worker Amy said. Immigrants are crucial to the America’s economy. Overseas students and illegal immigrants can look into other scholarship programs, which is not easily available according to FASA. As a result, thinking of immigrants, illegal immigrants and refugees getting freebies such as free education is not quite valid claim. Immigrants are crucial to our economy we should not overlook the importance of the immigrants. Immigrants bring in innovation ideas, high-skilled workers, create new business, create more job opportunities and live the American Dreams. These immigrants produce future scientist, engineers, and doctors in-house. Help fill in the job gaps for natives to grow in their career. Immigrants also helps the economy to expand by increasing the demand of housing markets and car industries. As a result, immigrants contribute to the success of America.
