I grew up in the island of Jamaica. Contrary to popular belief, it was not all glorious days of relaxing on the beach and sipping from coconuts. The area I am from is the town of Mandeville, in the parish of Manchester. We are the only city that is not located on the coast or a major river. So unlike other parts of Jamaica,our town is not near an ocean, making us more of an in-land town. Cool climate, steep slopes, lush vegetation and a myriad of fruit trees, were what we had to enjoy. Chilly nights, where each breath can be seen as a wisp of smoke, but that was accompanied by warm blankets and hot Cocoa. I will admit there was not a lot of excitement in our town for the enjoyment of a child as our town has been known for returning residents
