When you think of being a human service professional, what kinds of duties and responsibilities come to mind? Which are most interesting to you? What duties would you rather avoid if at all possible? When it comes down to working with children I think everything is possible. Being a human service professional you have to be ready to engage with people, whether that means engaging with their families, children, friends, even outsiders who have no relationship with the client. You have a duty to help in any way but to also keep a record of anything you did to try to help. You also have a duty to do your best to help them. In the video the man went on about having to do 3 intake interviews everyday to help access each client and figure out what is the best solution to help them. What are some strategies you think would be most helpful? Describe at least two. Being able to be flexible and efficient, especially when it comes to time management, can be very frustrating. The tasks can never seem to yield. But I tend to stick to the big guns, I do what I feel is necessary and cannot wait another day, as soon as possible. If it's overwhelming then go and seek help from colleagues or supervisors. It's always okay to ask for help. Another strategy is to buy a planner or create a to do list. I use this a lot. Working with children I have to plan in advance and sometimes I have to change what I do just to fit their needs. Using a planner I could jot down the change I made or the change that needs to be made. It helps me be efficient and confident.
