The human services field can be summed up as helping fellow man by using your knowledge and skills to help them alleviate their stress or mental issues. Pursuing a career in the human service field is not meant for everyone. The career is very demanding because of the mental , and physical, toll it takes on you. Hearing the stories of a diverse amount of people can take a huge toll on someone. In order to make a living in this career, one must be ready to put aside their own emotions and help others with their emotions. Although not everyone is meant for this job because of how demanding it is, I feel I am the perfect for the job and lifestyle. I want to enter the human services field because of my past. I have had a difficult childhood because of my mental health. Once my father passed from committing suicide, I felt very alienated. The passing of my father was hard on me, especially at such a young age. Not only did my father pass, but my hormones where that of a pre-teen, of which I was. As I mentioned before, my teen years were hard on me. I believe that's where my problems with mental health started. I know that if I am able to help teens and children understand themselves better, I can help prevent any future stress-related mental health problems. The mind of a child is easily influenced because of the underdevelopment of their brain. Teens are also easily influenced because of society and the way it can affect their lives. Teens just want to find themselves and I know I want to help them find just that. Children, on the other hand, are our future generations. If we want the world to grow, we have to help our next generation understand the importance of mental health so they can continue with the knowledge. This way, the world could possibly be a greater and more open-minded
