How does being raised by a teen parent affect a child later on in life? Most people would think that being raised by teen parents doesn’t affect a child as much, as long as they have both parents raising them. Although this can be true in some cases, what people don’t realize is that teens haven’t exactly learned important life skills necessary for the well development of a child as well as for themselves. Being raised by teen parents causes a negative effect on a child due to the fact that these children can suffer from health problems as they’re growing up, and their parents usually drop out of school after finding out about the pregnancy. The type of skills they’re missing out on include ones that help with finding proper jobs, as well as survival skills for adulthood. In high school, students are taught things like how to act during a job interview, how to budget money, or even how to buy a home, but when they drop out, they never learn how to do these things, which can affect the stabilization of their future home. Growing up, children may experience rejection from their parents (When Children Have Children). Most of the time, these pregnancies aren’t expected or they’re not wanted, so teens reject their child and avoid caring or providing for them. Children grow up being isolated most of their lives and may continue doing so without their parents. Teen parents aren’t always aware of what’s going on in their child’s life (When Children Have Children). They drop out of high school, so they don’t go to college before actually having kids, so they don’t learn much about the development of a child or a teenager. This causes them to not be able to distinguish real problems with common phases, so they don’t know how to properly treat these things. This affects children negatively because they don’t grow up learning or being taught the same thing from their parents, who didn’t learn as much as they
