Numerous people believe that children hate discipline, but actually they find security and comfort in the structure of discipline. Children actually want discipline, they want and need to know that there is someone who cares enough and loves them enough to intentionally help them grow as an individual. There are many ways to appropriately discipline children, including time-outs, physical discipline, and even monotonous work.
One appropriate form of disciplining children is time-outs. Discipline through time-outs helps raise respectful and responsible adults. Studies done by the Association of Child Development reveal that children who are put in time-outs are 87% more likely to be successful in their careers and 75% more likely to be respectful and responsible. Children who are put in timeouts are most likely to be successful, well rounded adults. Another study done by Auburn University shows that children put in time-outs for negative behavior are at less risk to be a violent or an abusive adult. …show more content…

Exercises such as running, wall-sits, and pushups are adequate, powerful, and appropriate ways to discipline children. Troy University published a study that shows that running and doing wall sits are 89% effective in teaching children to obey their parents and teachers. Exercising is not only helpful for physical health but also an effective enforcement against negative behavior. Yale did a study at Arrow High School where teenagers that had low grades and were at risk for alcohol abuse and drug abuse, that were involved in school sports. Athletes’ who had an 85% grade or below were required to one hour of intense exercises. Nine out of ten athletes achieved an 85% or higher grade by the end of the term.
