Listening, or reading stories makes us feel happy. It makes us feel transcend into another realm and forget everything about the world we call reality. And we enjoy this! But why? For me, I have been surrounded by the stories my family told me about life and how they got to be the people they are now, and how one day I will have my own story. My own novel. Becoming the person we will be for the rest of our lives doesn’t just happen overnight, it’s a challenging journey that would make for a good story one day. Yes, I know skipping part of the book is a crime against storytelling and should be banned immediately. Regardless, the majority of people still like movies because of the visual aesthetic of storytelling. People give up reading books all the time because of their length and the time commitment needed. For those who aren’t committed enough to sit down and read, movies are a great alternative to reading since we don’t have to imagine what’s going on, it is presented to us as a motion picture. An article published in the Association for Psychological Science concluded that the brain is attracted to the onset of motion (citation). Consider movies as the young storyteller that wants to take you to new places. New places in which all sorts of adventures are possible. Don’t make it the only source of stories, think of it as a single tool that lies in your tool bag. Only after you look hard enough will you find it, and in doing so, find what you
