Egypt was able to mature rapidly and prosper quicker because they weren’t approached by others and didn’t have to rebuild after many invasions like Mesopotamia did. Egypt was isolated because of the Mediterranean Sea, the Sahara desert, and the Nile River. In order to invade Egypt you would need to put in time and planning, which was not very easy to do when you were being invaded by others because you would need no distractions. Mesopotamia didn’t have as many natural defenses so it was possible to invade and attack them without having to fully prepare a well thought attack.
The Nile River offered many things to Egypt that helped them grow. It was one of their barriers that provided protection from the north, especially during times that the Nile flooded. Flooding from the Nile provided annual gifts of refreshing water and re-fertilizing soil this is what caused Egypt to be. The Nile goes into the Mediterranean Sea which provides a dampness that allows plants to grow which provide food for the animals

Mesopotamia started off as a small population, but quickly grew to a large city. Although Mesopotamia was a large city, it took them a while to fully complete the building of the civilization. It took Mesopotamia almost three millennium. Mesopotamia is surrounded by two rivers which provided water for the civilization along with transportation and communication. Communication through the rivers can be considered a benefit for a civilization, but can also be a drawback if the people in the civilization don’t get along. Different communities would channel the river for their benefit even if that meant hurting others, like flooding them or taking away their water supply. Flooding was a major issue not only because of the negative impacts on the civilization but it also deposited salt into their soil which made it unfertile and prevented them from growing
