I honestly have never been great at any sort of math, but this particular class was the worst I’ve ever faced. A challenge is nothing more than an obstacle that lies in one's path. I have had my fair share of such obstacles The main one has been my deafness. Many people consider deafness a disabilitya handicap that leads to problems or failure. I am proof that this stereotype is false. Being a scholar is a challenge that I take on everyday. The most challenging classes I took this year will have to be AP English Language and Algebra II Honors. AP English Language is my first AP class I have taken and it was really challenging. The most challenging part about being in AP English Language was the level of expectation on your work. All of my classes in high school I passed with no struggle. I would cram all the knowledge that I needed for a test the night before, so I thought college would not be any different. A week or two before my first ever college exam the professor announced that if we had not already been study, then we should start to right away. Being a young naive freshmen, I kind of blew the teacher off. Telling myself that I did not need to waste the next few weeks studying for one exam. So I waited until the last day to study. You might have an idea of what happened next. I failed the exam. Failing so bad that it would be nearly impossible for me to still get a C in the course. I could not even look at myself. The thought of disappointing my parents was making my stomach turn. This fear of failing the class was tearing me apart. The only chance at passing this class was if I turned myself into the perfect student. This meant turning things in on time, studying days in advance for exams, and going to my professor’s office hours. And that is exactly what I did. My brother and I had to enter school. It was frightening we didn 't know anyone, and Spanish wasn 't familiar to neither of us. I only wrote in English. My mother tried to teach us before we entered school and we did learn, what was really hard, was to get in school! The director gave a lot of excuses and didn 't want me or my brother to get in so we lost that year, sadly.
I had a difficult time learning in school. I became a few years behind my grade level and my parents considered having me repeat a grade. My learning support teacher worked with me one on one for months and taught me how to study and work hard. My senior year in high school I did a presentation. In this presentation, my group had to create a business. We decided to create a music school. I had a powerpoint slide, a board, and a guitar. I played and sang one song. Than my teacher asked me to do another song. Than she asked for a third song and when I said no she threatened my grade. The biggest challenge I ever faced personally is when I decided to taken AP Biology during my senior year of high school. One of the reasons I took this class, was that I wanted to gain a few credits before I started college. The other was that, my original plan was to take a class that have me a step into my future major, Biology. Technically the major I wanted to take was Zoology, but very few colleges, especially Farmingdale, don't have it.
