The first and probably most popular myth about High School is that freshman get beat up, shoved into lockers, and picked on by upper classmen. This myth is simply not true. Coming into High School I, like many others, was nervous but because I ran cross country over the summer and got to know older students, it lessend the blow of entering a new and unfamiliar school. Another key factor for incoming freshman to be wary of upper classmen is influence of TV shows and movies. Movies and shows that focus around a High school career of one or many people, usually depict younger students being picked on or bullied while the older students are being rude, giving under classmen swirlies, and discluding them from parties and events. In real life High School all grades of students exist coherently and stay out of each others way or if they are friends, they’ll talk to and hang out with each other. Even though there is bullying and rudeness in High Scool, it is not to the degree shown in movies and on TV shows and students of all grades exist very harmoniously with one another. …show more content…

While it is true that you need good grades to get into Universities and colleges, there are many other factors on resumes that collegs look for besides grades. Examples of what colleges will look for are activeness in clubs and your community, sports, and any other extracurricular or school/community active events. Probably the most important idea to know to get through High School is how to manage your time. As a freshman you don’t get more work than you can handle, the myth probably omes from students who wait until the last minute to do all of their work and then it would seem like a lot. You also need to manage your time wisely for studying, volunteer work, and clubs so that everything you participate in doesn’t get to be too
