The New Age of Gun Rights
Today, gun rights are one of the many popular topics in the United States. Many arguments are made on a daily basis from both sides of the fence. Anti-gun protesters believe guns should be illegal and out of the reach of the thousands of citizens who already own guns. Pro-gun pushers look to keep the rights as they were written in the U.S. Constitution or as close to it as possible. Some new standards and regulation are as far astray that most citizens will take. Psyche evaluations, firearm safety classes, and of course background checks should be implemented to all those who wish to acquire any type of gun.

Not long ago, Connecticut passed a bill declaring many things. “The bill would require individuals to undergo the same kind of evaluation performed on police officers” (Jimenez). Many states soon followed and till this day many are looking to push a bill similar or actually the same one. Protection begins with the abiding citizens, if they really want to bear arms, they need to follow this and other obligated standards.
Almost all gun carrier personnel so thus far are properly trained in the field of concealment and use of any type of firearm. They look for trusting people that won’t attempt anything to affect the safety or property of the people. This is exactly why background checks should be required for gun-bearing citizens. If they have nothing to hide, then it shouldn’t be a problem.
Investigations into the background of potentially dangerous gun buyers, intended to prevent the purchase of firearms by potentially dangerous criminals. Depending on legislation, these can be “instant” or may require a waiting period (Overview of the Gun Control Debate). This may be the most important because it is the main evaluation about who the person actually is and what they have been through. It is only fair for the protection of the people.
New standards and requirements to purchase any type of firearm should include a psyche test, passing of a gun safety class and the ever popular background check. It is extremely important to check and re-check on any person while in the process of buying a gun. The safety measures would be set for the better of the country to avoid dangerous encounters and violent confrontations. The safer the purchases, the safer the country.
