INTRODUCTION
This essay will clearly discuss how gender has had impacts on individual identity, right from childhood till adulthood and the things that influences how people see their gender and how it affects their choices.
Gender is socially constructed; people all intend to see themselves in the mirror of gender based on what they were taught right from their childhood, and how they were treated and what they saw in other adults around them, the same or opposite gender

Previously, some careers were only available to one gender and considered less-suitable for the other, however a notable decrease in such perception has erupted and the society has embraced a more unisex approach. Although, this does not imply a complete eradication of societal ideas which advocate that a certain gender will perform better on certain jobs. For example nursing to females and Construction Engineering to males, this notion has affected a lot of career choices.
For several years, “traditional gender role ideology believed that men’s and women’s spheres of work are different to each other” (Chafetz), they believed that men are supposed to go out and work while women stay at home to care for the children and take care of the house.
