During my freshman year I was getting horrible grades all year round. I was put into the STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) program by my dad. He wanted me to be some type of genius at the time, but I didn’t think I was. I was super lazy with playing video games all day and watching netflix until i fall asleep. Heading into school I was able to average a 2.3 GPA the first semester of freshman year. The only thing I was good at was being able to play football. With the school affecting me I would always fall asleep after school and never do my homework because I was depressed from my grades and I was exhausted from football every day. Sophomore year roles up and I participated in all of the football camps in the summer
As a senior, my past is full of things that I wish I had done differently. My past years in high school weren’t always the best, but they make me who I am today. Problems that I dealt with were that I had trouble keeping my grades and GPA up because, I was more focused on socializing and being a class clown than I was on my school work. Because I wanted to be a class clown it also caused a lot of behavioral issues. I ended up being kicked out of my ninth-grade math class because of it, damaging my GPA even more. Having behavioral issues is never a good thing it caused me to be suspended out of school, which are reflected poorly on my attendance. So, when I was in school, I was so far behind that it made it nearly impossible to catch up. I feel as if these were some of the worst decisions I could have made, because it’s made it so much harder for me going into my senior year.
My education has always been a top priority of mine. Not only is it important for my future, but I also enjoy learning new information. In order to maximize my education, I actively participate in class. If I have any questions, I will ask the teacher for any clarification. Moreover, I have taken many AP classes: European History, Biology, Calculus, U.S. History, Chemistry, and Chinese. I took the prior two classes in sophomore year and the other four in junior year. I performed well in all those classes and taken all the corresponding AP tests. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA all throughout my educational career and have never failed to achieve anything less than an A. Moreover, I haven taken the following electives: Art I, Art II, Sculpture, Digital Photo, Construction (for two years), Ceramics, and Introduction to Business. During my early education, meaning elementary school and middle school, I was a very average student. I gave an average amount of effort to my grades, and I received above average results. This did not bother me, until the end of my 8th-grade year. At this point in the year, I was filling out what classes I desired to take the following year, my freshman year. I realized that from this point forward, I had to take my education much more serious, in order to get accepted to whichever college I desired. therefore, when planning my classes, I decided to challenge myself more than I ever have in the past, and take multiple honors courses. I assumed because of my grades, that I had what it took to be an honors-level student, but I was very wrong. One teacher, Mrs. Johnson, made me realize the kind of effort, time and energy needed to be devoted to my education.
My grades throughout my high school career have not been the greatest. Since my freshman year I have fallen into a metaphorical ditch where I have procrastinated a lot and almost completely failed certain classes. By looking at my transcripts you will see the classes I struggled most in were math, Spanish, and sometimes science. I have struggled with math all four years of high school although the teachers I have had have helped me along the way so that I do not utterly fail. Learning a new language is always difficult when all you have been speaking is one language so when I took Spanish I had a difficult time but finally in my junior year I was able to pass the class and feel great about myself. Throughout my four years of high school I maintained a B average and had some great comments from some teachers. I feel like I really do not have a difficult subject I just become very lazy and do not try. Freshman year at my past high school I was really on top of my grades. As I moved to Lemoore and broke my arm I got very lazy my sophomore year. Junior year was a decent year I could have done way better. Now that my senior is here I ended my first semester with a 3.86. I am very happy with my grades and I have noticed I can not be lazy once I am in college.
At the time, we lived in New York, so I started my adventure in public school in a small high school. Over the course of the first semester, I was faced with the challenge of different knowledge compared to my fellow peers; I knew and understood different subject ideas, but was never taught or knew very little of others. At the start of senior year I challenged myself by taking on 2 AP classes, a part time job and joining a cycling team. I thought I was going to be able to manage it, since last year I did the same thing except I only took 1 AP class. This time I had to do packets of homework each day, go to work after school and practices for cyclocross season. It was hard trying to keep up and soon I started to fall behind.
