The fifth Beatitude is, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.” This beatitude, like the other eight beatitudes, is supposed to be thought about on a personal level. In every beatitude Jesus is referring to your own behavior, your own qualities, and your own characters, as well as what other people think of you. To think of these eight beatitudes elsewhere is the wrong thing to do.
Followers of Christ have the ability to show compassion and to forgive which actually makes them stronger, rather than making them weaker and making them made fun of by others. This makes them able to rise to a better, more fulfilling level of life rather than move on the lower less fulfilling level of life.

Being pure of heart means not putting your desires first, instead putting others. “Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10) It is not often when you are watching TV when you do not see uncatholic advertisements or hear bad language. To do this people need to keep in mind the Ten Commandments as well as these eight beatitudes. Righteous people are the people who are good, keep in mind their virtues, justifiable, law-abiding, honest, noble, helpful, and faithful.
