Imagine students being able to grab their lunch and being able to eat all of their food and not having to rush to get to recess, well students could do this if Wilson Southern Middle School had longer lunch. Students entered the class, starving because they couldn’t finish their lunch. I think we should have longer lunch time. Students should not be allowed to leave their school campus during lunch. An open campus would lead to truancy, disturb local businesses and neighborhoods, and cause crime.
On the other hand, having open campus lunch would force students to learn time management and teach them what future responsibilities for college and employment. Students would have thirty minutes to get where they would choose to eat and back while remaining punctual. I don't think our school lunch is healthy because it has fat and too much sodium. Although it is good it is fattening it is the reason for much of the obesity in the U.S. Many kids have no other option to eat the unhealthy school lunches or they will be hungry.
This will give us the extra push that's needed so the lunch expansion won't be a problem. Can you imagine sitting in class for 3 hours straight not being able to talk eat or do anything except working? The school time takes up a countless hours of a students life. Schooling can take the same amount of time as a job, not including the homework and projects. Like many jobs school should have a break to relax and take some time for themselves, or friends. Students would have a break to then refocus on the up coming classes and not lose interest half way through the day. The open campus lunch policy would have many benefits for the students. The student body is not a perfectly oiled machine. The real picture of a student body is semi oiled and rough around the edges.
