Bullying is a problem. Bullying has been a complication as long as anybody could remember and has been the cause for some terrible things. Criminalizing bullying will not help stop it and may even worsen the problem. People need to set the right example for the children.Bullying should not be criminalized because bullying starts with the adults and the it is not the criminal justices problem.
In the first place, bullying should not be criminalized because it is not the children's fault that they started bullying. Kids are raised by adults and their actions depend on the example adults set. According to article 3, If schoolyard bully were criminal our prisons would be housing many more than the current 2.3 million and students would be leaving with criminal records, not degrees”. This would just cause more problems than it would fix it. The ultimate goal for the adults should be to get these kids through school and not bully. The final reason that bullying should not be criminalized is because it is not the criminal justice systems problem. Passage 3 says “ Society, teachers and obviously parents, not the criminal justice system, should address the bullying epidemic.” Without the guide of parents and teachers, kids will never know the difference between right and wrong.

On the other hand, in article 1,“An opinion poll conducted in February 2010, weeks after Phoebe’s death, found that 61% of Massachusetts voters said school bullying should be a crime”. This poll is completely biased because of the circumstances at the time. The community of Massachusetts was recovering from a loss with a terrible story that just happened to start with bullying.
