Required—officially compulsory, or otherwise considered essential. When you are required to do something, it is like you are forced to do that particular thing and have no choice around it. The United States should not require everyone to serve in the military. By forcing people to serve in the military, many people could come home with PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), not everyone is in shape and not everyone had the correct mindset to serve in the military, and lastly it is a violation of free will. If The United States required everyone to serve in the military, and a huge war happened, many people would come home with PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder). PTSD is a mental health condition that’s triggered by a terrifying event—either experiencing it or witnessing it. Reisman explains how many people PTSD affects, and how it is difficult to overcome. Over eight million people have PTSD and the main cause is the military, and by requiring everyone to serve, that will just leave more people with PTSD. Also, quality is needed over quality. It is better to have less people fighting that know what they are doing, and are dedicated to being in that position, then a lot of people who have no idea what they are doing, and are very out of shape. Lastly, the motto of this county is “freedom”, and by requiring a military draft, that does not go with the United States motto.
