Religion is something a lot of people follow. According to the Pew Research Center, eighty-four percent of the entire world identifies with a religion. This is a staggering number that shows the true colors of how the world chooses a path for their life. The definition that our book defines religion as so; “Pattern of beliefs and practices that expresses and enacts what a community regards as a sacred and/or ultimate about life.” First, the definition of religion can be different for everyone who follows a religion; some might say religion is to believe in a god whom will forgive them of all wrongdoings, while others will say religion means to work, and help others as a follower of God. When I was a baby, I was baptized in a church that I have very little recollection of. As long as I can remember, my mother has put Christianity in my life; she has been the one who influenced me from the beginning along with other family members who put the basic principles of Christianity in my life. It wasn’t them pushing me into it, but they certainly gave me their opinion on why following the religion is beneficial for my life. I went to Sunday school and read the children’s version of the Bible. When I was young, I really didn’t understand a lot of what the Bible meant, but I knew the basics of Christianity because of the influence my mom and family put into my life. As soon as I started growing up, and started understanding the true meaning of what the bible portrayed, I felt it was something that I could get behind. I practice my religion because the core principles that define Christianity are simple ways of life that will make you a better person. The principles that are most significant in my life revolve around being kind and honest to everyone while following basic principles such as, do not steal, do not murder, honor your parents. When things like this are stated, the first word that comes to mind is trustworthy. If you follow these principles I consider you to be a trustworthy person; however, this doesn’t mean all people who follow Christianity and follow the commandments are in fact trustworthy. There is a plethora of people who follow Christianity, or any religion in general, who might not always stay true to what the core principles are. Just because someone doesn’t necessarily follow the stated principles doesn’t mean they are a bad person, or a bad follower; to me, it just means that they might have a different portrayal of how they should act in the name of their given
