The Berlin Wall
The Berlin wall was built in August 13, 1961. They started to build The Berlin Wall after World War II was over. Germany was divided into four zones due to World War II. Each of these four zones were controlled by countries. The Western sections of Germany were controlled by American, French, and the British while the Eastern was controlled by Soviets.The old capital of Berlin was also divided into four zones, but Berlin itself remained inside of the Soviet zone. When they put up the walls separating East and West Germany they did not want any body from the East side going in to the West side of Germany.
The Berlin Wall was ll.8 feet tall and 90 miles long. The Berlin Wall was guarded day and night from people trying to pass over to West Berlin. Any body that was trying to leave from the Eastern wall to West wall was shot by the guards. When people tried to they would try anything to get over to Western side of Berlin. The amount they gave them from the year 51 BCE to one BCE they almost tripled the amount! It increased a lot. If they had to pay them to stay out them that proves that the Great Wall does not work.

The Collapse of the Berlin Wall would not have occurred so swiftly had Gorbachev not tried to implement reforms to communism.
