How Can We Help People Who Struggle With Procrastination? Be able to know that you are a procrastinator in order to be helped. Have a commitment to yourself to get things done and making a to do list can help. Also, creating reminders through the day to help with what’s needed to get done. Write some of your goals so you can accomplish them. Having someone you can tell your goals, and how you plan to accomplish them is also good help. They can push you into making your goals. In order for you not to be distracted from social media you can use tools such as Rescue Time, Self-Control, and Focus to block those web sites while you do your work. Setting a timer can also help because you get to work on it for a minute, then come back at it after 60 seconds. Breaking down tasks into smaller amounts will help you with having to overwhelm yourself with so much. Sometimes you can even help yourself by simply giving treats after a task or being able to know that you can use social media after getting done with the work/task. Also, telling yourself that no one is perfect can actually help with failure because you will think less of trying to be perfect. Then you will actually try to do your task because you won’t be afraid of failure. Since procrastinators tend to say that the tasks are boring you can have a twist, and try to play a game to see how many of the task you can get done in such amount of time. It’s a good method for those who say the task are boring and they lack motive. Stop thinking about other things and focus on what needs to be done. Keeping track of the assignments that are due, and knowing which ones you have to finish first, and working along the way to get all of them done. Most of the time that people procrastinate is spent on social media. Therefore, having to stay away from it as possible because it will help you in the long run. If you stay on social media, there’s a tendency of forgetting about the big picture which is getting your task done. One detail that procrastinators tend to tell themselves is that your career depends on getting the task done that which contributes to more pressure on yourself. You don’t want to over stress yourself as you have already done. Sometimes all it takes is to change the way you view things in order to get much done. Stop yourself from looking away because you don’t want to do something. Just simply try to do it because it doesn’t help you but harm you. Another form of knowing how to manage your time will be writing down how you use your time on a daily basis. With that being said, you will find that you don’t actually need to be using your time by just simply being on the internet for so long.
