Are You a Procrastinator?
The results of my assessment gave me 46 points. According to the scale presented by the website, I am not a systematic procrastinator. The score goes from 0 to 75, ranging from being a procrastinator to not being one. The questions asked were mainly focusing on how one deals with certain stages of the day. For example, on how a meeting is faced in terms of organization, or if you get to the point of rushing tasks left for the last minute.
My academic career didn’t start in an orderly manner. It took me a long time to become more organized and aware of what it means going to college. I was a procrastinator, and I could feel the effects of indiscipline. The problem is that procrastination is a loop, and quite the perfect one. You realize what you are not doing right, but continue doing wrong. It takes a lot of effort to change bad habits, and when you procrastinate you get into one of the most troublesome. Things that need to be done just have to be done. The popular motto “Just Do It” is commonly used when instead of acting, we start planning and thinking. Of course, using our reasoning and logic to develop a mindset is important. When it comes to strategies, I believe that having statistical data is the best. We forget a lot of small details that could actually make a huge difference. The “Daily Task Form” mentioned in the book is actually a very good way of finding out how we are “losing time” in our daily tasks. When we notice a pattern of how many lost hours there are in a week in activities that were rather unproductive, then we can fix it. This is a good way to fight procrastination. But also, to be active and relentless, there must be a reason and a need. Procrastination might happen because of lack of enthusiasm as well. It is always pertinent to have a goal that is interesting
