Research Paper John F. Kennedy John F. Kennedy was the youngest person to be elected president and to die president. Kennedy was an extraordinary man born on May 19, 1917 and became president in 1960. He did not know of his inevitable fate three years later in Texas. Kennedy seemed to be a favorite to all of America. Kennedy was a great president who had his own thoughts and ideals which caused him to have enemies that led him to his assassination. John F. Kennedy was born on May 19, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts. Kennedy graduated from Harvard University in 1941. In the fall of 1941 Kennedy joined the U.S. Navy and two years later was sent to the South Pacific. (“John F. Kennedy”) He barely escaped death while in the navy. When he was only 29 he ran for congressmen and beat his opponent by nearly double the votes. Congressmen was not enough for Kennedy he later ran for U.S. senate. That fall the Republican presidential candidate, General Dwight D. Eisenhower, carried Massachusetts by 208,000 votes; but Kennedy defeated Lodge by 70,000 votes. (“John F. Kennedy”) The last step was to run for president. Kennedy is famous for being the 35th president and for the works he did as president. For example, one of the events that made John F. Kennedy famous is the Cuban Missile Crisis (“John F. Kennedy”). On October 16, 1962 President Kennedy was informed about a major crisis. On October 16, 1962 the United States Military surveillance pictures of Cuba were taken. After the CIA had studied these pictures they found that there were Russian missile bases in Cuba, just 90 miles of the coast of Florida. This sparked the biggest rivalry between the Soviet Union and USA ("Cuban Missile Crisis”). This demonstrates the world will see the killer for nothing more than he is...a killer. The assassination ended any political movements led and promoted by the President because he was no longer in office. For example Kennedy was trying to make relations with Cuba, but after the next president stepped in that was no longer a priority. Kennedy was a remarkable young president who did what he thought was best for the country, but some thought he was the enemy and even wanted him dead. He never lost an election and became Congressmen, Senator, and finally president. He became America’s favorite which upset a few communists within the country like Harvey Lee Oswald who eventually ended Kennedy’s life.
