Islam can be closely compared to other monotheistic religions of the world. One of the monotheistic religions that is most similar to Islam is Christianity. There is a significant case of similitude between most of the 5 Pillars of the Islamic faith and the rituals of the Christian faith. The most similar component of the two religions is their faith in general. Muslims and Christians alike believe in one god, and one god alone. The next indistinguishable ritual of the two religions is the importance of prayer. Muslims and Christians faithfully pray to their respective god, praising Him and asking for His blessings for them. The followers of Christianity and Islam both have a set time to give up food so that they can focus more on their religious walk. Although the above mentioned rituals of the two religions share similarities, they also have contrasting details that go along with them. The religions’ faith, that is aforementioned as the most similar portion of the religion, is also the most different. Muslims believe that the only God is Allah and that Muhammad is his prophet. Christians would argue that God is the one and only god, and that Jesus Christ is His son. Although the Islamic Holy Book, the Quran, mentions Jesus Christ, Muslims do not believe that he is the son of Allah (God). Another thing Christians believe in that Muslims do not is the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost); Muslims view this theory as polytheistic. Now onto the daily ritual of prayer — according to the 5 Pillars of the Islamic faith, Muslims must pray at least five times a day (at set times) facing towards Mecca, the Islamic Holy City. Christians, on the other hand, can pray whenever and wherever; they don't have set times they must pray. Also, the sense of helping others differs slightly between the religions.
